If the vaccines are effective, why do authorities recommend continued mask use and social distancing?

I mentioned previously that the vaccines are very effective at preventing people from getting sick or dying from COVID. Unfortunately, they don’t necessarily prevent mild or asymptomatic infection that could be spread to someone else. So, until we are all vaccinated and protected from getting severe COVID, we have to take precautions so that we don’t unknowing spread infection to someone who could become severely ill or die.
